Pastor: Doug Balzar
Hi, my name is Doug. Thank you for being here. Let me tell you about myself. I am a follower of Jesus Christ – the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Born here in Oregon, I have lived most of my life in the NW region of the state. My wife, Jan, and I have been married for a few years. Okay, we married young. We have two adult children and four grandchildren. So, I spent a few years in college and university, twelve. I started my education at Eugene Bible College, now New Hope Christian College, for my undergraduate studies and graduated from the Doctor of Ministry program at Portland Seminary. Following Jesus is the most excellent adventure of my life. He keeps me on my toes and surprises me where He shows up and leads me. My experience in ministry spans 37 years. My adventure comes from serving God, the church, and the people of the community. Outdoors, there is no better that I would like to be. Living in Oregon gives me so many places to explore. Hiking, food, camping, food, family, food, movies, and kayaking are some of the activities I enjoy.

Hi! I’m Jan Balzer. I am from Spokane, WA and have lived in the PNW for all but one year! Oregon has been my home for the majority of my life.
I have been involved with music since I was 4 years old. After Sunday School every week, I would come home and plunk out the songs we sang in children’s church – by ear. All through Jr. high and high school and college, I sang in all kinds of music groups, jazz choir, women’s ensembles, and concert choir, and a traveling ensemble. I was also very active in with drama participating in school musicals. I’ve also participated in community theater, both as a director and an actress. I’ve taught K-12 Choir in private schools and directed church choirs of all ages. I attended Eugene Bible College, now New Hope Christian College, in Eugene, OR where I studied Sacred Music and pastoral ministries. I started helping to lead worship and playing the piano when I was in high school. And I was hooked!
Leading worship for me, is one of my greatest passions! Having gone through some rough patches in my life, worship was one of the ways I was able to overcome and move forward. I have a lot to be grateful for and I can express that through worship.
Besides music, I enjoy gathering with friends & family to play games or watch movies (and of course that involved food!) I also love kayaking, watching Hallmark movies, and writing. I am married to Pastor Doug. We love doing ministry together. We have two grown children and 4 grandchildren.
